VOIP – Voice Over IP
VoIP is the acronym for Voice over IP. VoIP is used for transmission on voice over the internet, which is received through another computer or through telephone. The basic principle used by VoIP for the transmission of voice over Internet is known as Packet Switching Network. A conversation can take place that is comparable to any landline telephone conversation by using a High Speed Internet Connection, a microphone, and speakers. VoIP technology is not relatively new; it is just becoming more and more popular. Programs were springing up across the Internet offering some form of free VoIP technology during the latter part of the 1990’s. Most of those do either no longer exist or now charge a standard monthly service fee for the use of their product. But one thing remains certain, every day VoIP is developing higher standards of quality, and it has shown that it is a viable force for telecommunication needs for the future. Many telephone companies are expanding to permit for monthly VoIP services. Companies such as Verizon, Sprint, and AOL are offering VoIP plans. VoIP Service Plan FeaturesMany of the features that are often incorporated for a fee with traditional phone service are often incorporated for free with VoIP services. These include features such as Call Waiting, Three-Way- Calling, Voice Mail, Call Block, Call Forwarding, and more. Another benefit to VoIP services includes the fact that many providers will let you keep your existing phone number, or allow you to select a new area code. Selecting a new area code has great appeal to many people. For example, a customer can select an area code for the same town where most of his friends or family lives. The person will not only be getting a great deal with his VoIP services, but also now his family and friends will save money whenever they call by selecting this area code. For them, it will be a local and not a long distance call. VoIP has proved that it is a viable force in the field of telecommunications, we can be sure that VoIP is here to stay. Instant Messaging ProgramsThe science of VoIP technology has been used by Instant Messaging programs for years. Now, most Instant Messaging programs come with “voice” enabled features. These aspects allow you to call a member of your buddy list. You will be able to converse anywhere in the world by using a microphone and speakers, with VoIP and your Instant Messaging program. VoIP is in contrast to the PSTN or the Public Switched Telephone Network- the telephone network we have all come to know and rely upon for the past century. The very nature of Voice over IP and PSTN are completely different and the future appears to show that more people will be switching from PSTN to Voice over IP. Packet Switching

VoIP - A Single Package With Multiple ApplicationsVoIP is prized for its capability to integrate many forms of telecommunication applications into one package. VoIP can concurrently manage data, audio, video, E-Mail, and web based applications. This makes VoIP an incredible boost to businesses. It also is a cost efficient option of telephone service. Instant Messaging is a perfect example of how VoIP includes various areas into one program. You can hook up a digital camera or a web cam and use video with your voice enabled Instant Messaging program, while you are speaking with your buddy on your microphone and listening to them with your speakers, and you can type back and forth with your chat program. At the same time, you could also write an email while you are doing all of these other tasks. The potential for VoIP’S use is nearly limitless. VoIP service providers are increasing in popularity as well. Many people are determining all of the advantages available to them by switching to VoIP. First, VoIP costs significantly less than regular telephone service, and this is a great attraction for bringing in new customers. Many VoIP service plans will let you make unlimited long distance calls or present you with a plan for very low-priced rates.
